Coding in Ms. Ferguson's class

We are learning to code as part of " code week"... Here is some information and photos of us at work
WHY LEARN TO CODE?
In a world where we're surrounded by technology, and where so many of our interactions we have are with computers, learning to code helps us understand how these services work.

What's more, learning to code gives us a powerful way to explore our ideas and make things, both for work and play. GET INVOLVED

If your code club or group is meeting during Code Week, add your events to the coding map of Europe. Not yet part of a group? Organize a Code Week event in your area! We've prepared a #codeEU Toolkit for organizers and alist of resources to get you started.

Community groups, schools, companies and non-profits are all welcome to run a Code Week event. And while October 11 - 17 will be the biggest celebration of coding across Europe, we're looking forward to activities throughout the year. Have questions? Get in touch with EU Code Week Ambassadors in your country and find out more about how to volunteer, or even sponsor a local event.

Coding in Ms. Connolly's class

Yesterday we took part in 'One hour of Coding'. We had to use a code to make the angry bird move. We solved 13 puzzles, they got harder as we went along so we had to think hard before we tried a new code. We had lots of fun. Maybe when we grow up we will write codes for bigger computer programs/

Disaster Blaster 2014

Last night we presented our Disaster Blaster LEGO league project in the Radisson hotel.
We had to man a table and show all other schools the wonderful inventions we designed, made and programmed, to help lesson the effects of disasters on the world around us.
We had a wonderful night, and we did our school proud!
Click on the photo below to see lots more great pictures of the night.

LEGO league tonight!

We have talked mostly about volcanoes as part of the LEGO league display.
Today we talked about wild fires: how they start, how they spread, how they can be so dangerous to humans and wildlife.
Some of us will go to the Radisson hotel tonight for the Junior First LEGO league presentation.
We can't wait to see our work on display.

Preparation time

We are currently working hard on our Lego project. We are learning about landslides. A landslide is a natural disaster. The theme this year is Disaster Blaster. We will be showing off our invention in the Radisson Hotel on June the 4th. Please come and see us.
Here are a few pictures of our work so far:

Using the computer to make Lego move. We are having lots of fun.
